How We Use the Information We Collect.
We use the NPI we collect about you, including consumer report information, to underwrite and/or rate your insurance policies and products, process your claims, ensure proper billing, service your accounts, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, and offer you other insurance and financial products that may suit your needs.
How We Disclose the Information We Collect.
We may share NPI with our affiliates or nonaffiliated third parties as required or permitted by law, including:
• Affiliates and nonaffiliated third parties as necessary to effect, administer, enforce, service, or process insurance transactions or any other transactions between you and us;
• Third parties engaged to perform actuarial, legal, audit, or other consulting services in furtherance of insurance or other transactions between you and us;
• Companies that perform marketing or other services for us or with whom we have joint marketing agreements; and
• Consumer reporting agencies and other entities as needed to handle your claim and to protect against fraud and unauthorized transactions.
For example, we might share your name, address, and insurance coverage information with an auto body shop handling an auto damage claim.
How We Share Consumer Report Information — Your Opt-Out Right.
Unless you direct us otherwise, we may share with our affiliates NPI that was obtained from a consumer report, such as your credit history or driving record. How We Protect Your Information.
We maintain physical, technological, and procedural safeguards designed to protect your NPI in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including applicable state insurance data security laws. We limit access to your NPI to employees or entities who need the information to perform their job responsibilities or services in connection with your insurance transactions. In the event of a data breach affecting your NPI, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
How You Can Review and Correct Information We Have About You.
Upon your written request, we will provide you with access to the personal information stored in our files and an opportunity to request that we correct, amend, or delete any information you believe is incorrect. We will correct, amend, or delete such information if, upon investigation, we can substantiate that it is in error. If we do not make the requested correction, you will have the opportunity to file a written statement of the dispute with us, which we will include in any further disclosure of that information.
How We Keep You Up to Date With Our Privacy Notice.
